Why do an enormous solo ride for Jericho Road Dallas?
Daniel Kanter is committed to making a
sustainable difference for underserved residents in Dallas. And because, as Senior Minister of First
Unitarian Church and an avid cyclist, he wants to help raise the start-up funds
for a new program that could make that difference -- Jericho Road Dallas. So he is going to ride 1800 miles in support of this opportunity from Dallas to Concord, Ma.
What is Jericho Road Dallas?
It's the Jericho Road model brought to life for Dallas, Texas. Based on a national model created by The Jericho Road Project, a program director here will match volunteer experts with Dallas nonprofits that offer critical services to our underserved residents. By meeting the internal needs of these nonprofits free of charge – from strategic planning to marketing and IT – nonprofit staff can focus on stronger delivery of social services to improve community quality of life. I am excited about JR Dallas because in a period of increasingly scarce funding and growing community needs, we could harness an abundant, powerful, and free resource – the good will, expertise, and financial and social capital of our professionals.
Why ride to Concord, MA?
While Jericho Road has sites in many locations, the first site got its start in Concord, MA. Daniel's pilgrimage there, he hopes, will inspire your commitment to the program and to making a better life for so many in Dallas. To see Daniel's route, click here.
